Location of the University Main Building and the Faculties The main building of the university, the central administration, Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts and the research centres are located in the endowed estate of queen Arwa in Ibb city in an area of about - 120 hectares. The Faculty of Education is located in the Gorafa area of Ibb city, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Alauddain street - Ibb city , the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences on Al-Sa'afani hill the buildings belonging to the National Institute for Management Science , The Faculty of Education in Al Nadira area one of Ibb governorate provinces . North - east of Ibb city the complex of the leader Ali Abdullah Saleh which consists of the medical campus; includes the branches of medicine and the university hospital will be located at the Haratha area on piece of land about ( 127.000 m2 ).
THE LIBRARIES 1. CENTRAL LIBRARY It comprises more than thirty thousand Arabic and English titles in different fields of knowledge. It is currently located in the main building of the Faculty of Education. It is open for all students of the university, researchers, and students of higher studies. The university is aiming at developing the services of the library by providing internet access and computer system.
2. The Library of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences It comprises more than five hundred titles in the fields of Administration, Accountancy, Economics, and Information Technology.
3. The Library of the Faculty of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Science It comprises more than two thousand eight hundred titles in the fields of Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Health Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine.
4. The Library Of the Faculty of Education in Al-Nadirah It comprises more than fifteen thousand titles in different educational and scientific fields.
5. The Library of the Faculty of Engineering & Architecture It comprises hundreds of titles in different fields of Engineering and Architecture. This library is provided with a computer system.
CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES AND PUBLICATIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY The University holds annual exhibitions, such as: "The Agricultural Exhibition", which is held in the Faculty of Agriculture & Veterinary. In this exhibition, the materials that were produced by students were displayed, such as the product of the dairy farm, special workshops carried out by the Faculty, and "The Plastic Arts Exhibition" which was held in the Faculty of Education and in which the students' creative achievements were displayed. Moreover, the University publishes a cultural monthly newspaper entitled "The University Letter." It, also, publishes "The University Researcher Magazine", a referred research journal which is published bi-annually. It focuses on scientific issues published by the University (teachers and professors). The published articles are referred to specialists for evaluation. The first edition was issued at the end of 1998, and it included ten papers in different scientific fields. The second issue was issued by the beginning of the academic year 2000, and it consisted of eight papers in different scientific fields. This magazine aims * to activate the scientific research movements in different scientific and human knowledge. * to fulfill the scientific requirements by conducting research * to open an opportunity for lecturers, professors, and researchers to publish their research. * to achieve a distinct scientific status for the University * to raise research awareness by focusing on the conditions and approaches of scientific research. The University arranges a great number of trips and practical visits to historical and archaeological sites. In this respect, the University arranged more than sixty visits during the academic year 1999-2000. The University also runs training summer programmes for students. These training programmes may be held inside Yemen by sending students to different companies and institutions or sending them abroad. Since the University is a member of "the Arab Council for Students Exchange Training", the University sent eighteen students abroad for training during the academic year 1997- 1998, twenty- five students during the academic year 1998-1999, and thirty-five students during the academic year 1999-2000 to a reputable Universities and institutions in Cairo, Syria, Iraq, and Sudan. The University obtained football championship for three subsequent years, 1996, 1997, and 1998. Moreover, the University hosted the championships of 1998-1999, and it was the first championship that was supervised by the Sport Union of the Yemeni Universities.
THE SECRETARY- GENERAL OF THE UNIVERSITY The University Council selects a secretary-general for the University out of three candidates. The President of the University must issue a University decree in this regard. The responsibility of the Secretary -General is to run the administrative and financial affairs of the University under the supervision of the President and his deputies. This post is presently occupied by Mr. Abdul-Kareem Al-warafi. The following is a brief CV of Mr. Al-Warafi. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Sana'a. He is pursuing his MA at the University of Sana'a. Previous Posts: - Director of administrative affairs in the Faculty of Education from 1992-1994. - Director of Students Affairs in the Faculty of Education. - Assistant director general of the Faculty of Education, 1994-1996. - Director General of the University President's office, 1996-1998. -Supervisor of the Educational Qualifying Programme (two years Diploma after secondary school) in the Faculty of Education. Present Posts - Union Secretary General of the University workers and teaching staff. -President of the PGC party (People's General Congress Party), Ibb University Branch - Secretary General of the University of Ibb from 1995 until now. |
